Automatic Control for Capacitor Banks

The RBC-01 Automatic Capacitor Bank Control is a relay for switched capacitors installed in electrical power distribution systems, designed to regulate reactive power or line voltage through reactive power control. The RBC-01 operates autonomously or interacts with the Regulator Bank, depending on the selected strategy. The RBC-01 control features individual monitoring of each switch, ensuring greater safety in field operation. The RBC-01 control allows for automation through the use of a remote communication system. As an option, the RBC-01 has a UPS module that keeps the control and switches energized during power outages to remove the capacitor banks, reducing inrush currents in the system and protecting the capacitor cells and recloser contacts.

Application

Technical and specific characteristics

  • Control by Voltage, Current, kVAr / Power Factor, Temperature and Date;
  • Remote intervention in the operation via SCADA;
  • Daily limit for automatic sectioning operations;
  • Emergency response in undervoltage or overvoltage situations;
  • Detection of voltage drop in the network and malfunction of the switches;
  • Neutral input sensing is available as an option, and can block the capacitor bank if there are blown fuses or stuck contacts;
  • Inputs for one or three voltages/currents;
